You're Smiling. People Are Worried.

Person walking confidently down a city sidewalk wearing a graphic tee that reads "I Woke Up Fine. Don't Ask Why." — Worn In Public

I woke up in a good mood today. Not for any reason. Nothing happened. Nobody texted. Nothing got resolved. I just woke up and felt okay, and I made coffee, and I stood by the window for a minute, and I thought — yeah. This is fine. I'm fine.

And then I went outside and someone asked me why I was smiling and I realised I didn't have an answer. Not a real one. Just: I don't know. I just am.

That's apparently unsettling.

People want a reason. A promotion. A new relationship. A trip coming up. Something to point to. Happiness without a source document makes people nervous, like you've found a loophole they haven't heard about yet.

I've stopped explaining it. Not because I'm being mysterious — I genuinely don't have the words. It's just this quiet thing that showed up one morning and I decided not to question it too hard in case it left.

I wore my favourite tee that day. The one that says exactly what I mean without me having to open my mouth. That felt right. Like the outside finally matched the inside for once.

I don't know how long it lasts. I'm not trying to protect it or perform it or post about it.

I'm just wearing it. Literally and otherwise.
